Marie Camp, age 95, of Lamar, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Truman Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Marie was born August 3, 1918, in Barton County, Missouri to Orin and Florence Grace (Smith) Beavers. On October 31, 1936, at Lamar, she married G.E. "Ed" Camp. They owned and operated the Kenoma Store from 1936 to 1941 and the Sylvania Store from 1947 through 1949. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She attended the Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Lamar Art League and volunteered for the Story Hour at the library in Lamar and for the R.I.F (Reading Is Fun) program at the school.
Ed preceded Marie in death on March 25, 1995. She was also preceded by her parents and three brothers, Preston H. Beavers, Orin Thomas Beavers, Jr., and Lyle Beavers; two sisters, Una Lamb and Valda Clements; and her daughter, Rosemarie Morris, on September 4, 1995.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Glenn (Bridgette) Morris of Coon Rapids, MN and Lela (Chris) Morris Perez of Thonotosassa, FL; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Mitchell Morris; nieces, Linda Talbott, Judy Gastel, Helen Wilson, and Barbara Dennis; nephews, Bill Camp and Luther Lamb, all of Lamar; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.
