Marjorie Maxine VanKirk, age 93, of Liberal, MO, died Monday November 28, 2011 at Via Christi Hospital, in Pittsburg, KS.
Marjorie was born January 5, 1918 at Liberal, MO to David Allen and Clara "Dolly" (Minor) Coffey. She graduated Liberal High School in 1936. Marjorie married Arthur McClellan VanKirk and together they had 12 children.
In addition to being a homemaker, raising her children and farming, Marjorie also had worked at Parsons Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS and Peerless Products Inc. in Fort Scott. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and gardening.
Survivors include two sons; Jim & Julia VanKirk, of Mulberry, KS, and David VanKirk of Liberal, MO; six daughters, Beverly Fleharty of Liberal, MO Jean Taylor, of Pittsburg, KS, Bonnie VanKirk, of Liberal, MO, Judy & Bill McManis Sr. of Pittsburg, KS, Donna & Jim Cobler, of Oskaloosa, MO, and Dixie Hayes, of Collinsville, OK; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Jack and Robert VanKirk, and two daughters, Dorothy and Rebecca VanKirk.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Daniel Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 2 pm Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Daniel Funeral home with burial to follow at Shiloh Cemetery, near Liberal.
