Marjorie Nadine Thompson, age 91, of Lamar, died at her home Saturday August 4, 2012 after a long illness.
Marjorie was born April 16, 1921 in rural Barton County to Paul Albert and Gladys Mae (Moseley) Fry. She graduated from Lamar High School at the age of 16. On December 2, 1939, she and Roy Lee Thompson were married in Cassville, Mo. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2011.
Marjorie worked as a clerk for REA from age 18 until she retired. Besides helping her husband run their farm, she participated in her beloved bible study groups, enjoyed quilting, and growing flowers. She served as the pianist at Central Chapel Church for many years. Marjorie and Roy became devoted members of Oakton United Methodist Church after Central Chapel closed.
Survivors include a son, Don Thompson, his wife Sue, of Lamar; seven grandchildren, Grace Bagley, Hanna, Buck and Gabe Thompson and Mark, Steven, and Darren Warner; five great grandchildren, Dustin, Gabriel, Adrian, Wolfie, and Jenna.
Marjorie delighted in the fact that she lived her life on the same section where she was born. She had a strong sense of belonging.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in passing by one brother, Warren Fry, and a daughter, Mary Louise Warner.
