Mary Ellen VanGilder

Mary VanGilder, age 76, of Lamar, died Friday, November 19, 2010, at Truman Healthcare Center.    Mary was born September 4, 1934 to Harry C. and Lois L. (Youngs) Hale.  She was raised in Lamar and graduated in 1952 from Lamar High School.  On July 23, 1965, she married Lloyd VanGilder at Lamar, and together they raised three children.    Mary was of the Methodist faith and had worked for Big Smith Manufacturing and also for O’Sullivan Industries.    Mary leaves behind her husband Lloyd; two sons, Larry and Anita VanGilder of Ridgedale, MO and Robert and Letha VanGilder of Springfield, MO; two step-daughters, Patricia and Jim Higgins, of Fayetteville, AR, and Theresa and John Norris, of Mazie, OK; one sister Barbara  Franks, of Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.    Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Marie Reinert in 2001.    Graveside Services for Mary will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Lake Cemetery.    Mary may be view after 9:00 am Tuesday, at Daniel Funeral Home.
