Nadine Ireland, age 83, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
Nadine was born November 7, 1927, at Kaiser, MO, one of the 12 children of William and Chloe (Cornett) Workman. She grew up in Barton County and graduated from Lamar High School in 1945. On March 20, 1946, at Girard, Kansas, she married C.V. Ireland and they had made their home in Kansas City, Missouri for many years, moving to Lamar in 2009.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Nadine provided child care in her home for 58 years. She was a member of HABOT the Heart of America Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Club, United Methodist Women, and enjoyed square dancing. Nadine was an active member of Iantha United Methodist Church.
Nadine was preceded in death by a son, Jack Dean Ireland; four brothers, Leonard Workman, Jewell “Cotton” Workman, Don Workman and Clifford Workman; and four sisters, Elsie Clark, Eunice LeVaugh, Ellen Ambler, and Waneta Workman.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, C.V. “Vic” Ireland of the home; two brothers, Ernie Workman, Lamar, and Wayne & wife Donna Workman, Liberal; a sister, Pauline Smith, Rancho Mirage, California; two grandchildren, Jason Ireland, Clinton, Missouri and Jennifer Ireland; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Chastine & Shaylene; many nephews and nieces; and a large extended family.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 17th at Iantha Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Powley and Rev. Bill Radford officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home.
