Naomi
Gillman
Naomi R. Gillman, age 86, of Lamar, passed
away at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Landmark
Hospital in Joplin.
Naomi was born June 7, 1922, at Lockwood,
Missouri, to Charley and Dolly (Turner)
Armstrong. On March 15, 1941, at Greenfield,
she married Harland E. Gillman and they made their home on the Gillman family
farm in Dade County. She was a homemaker and enjoyed farming with
Harland for many years. Naomi was an
excellent cook who enjoyed having extra friends at the dinner table. She was a talented and prolific quilter,
making quilts for every family member. After semi-retiring in 1982, Harland and
Naomi moved to Lamar where Naomi was an active member of Lamar United Methodist
Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, and Order of the Eastern Star, Mount
Hope Chapter #74.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Jean & Joe Bartlett, Lockwood; two grandsons and their wives,
Bruce & Toni Bartlett, Lockwood, and Brent & Lori Bartlett, Liberal; four
great-granddaughters, Haley Marie, Kelsey Lanae, Mikayla Marie, and Chloe
Elizabeth Bartlett. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Harland, August
31, 2007; her parents; a brother, Charles Armstrong; and four
sisters, Ida Thieman, Fay Hendrickson, Lucille Johnson and Alberta Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14th at Daniel
Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Friday. Burial will be in Maple Grove
Cemetery near Sylvania, Missouri.
