Reba Divine Crossley
Reba Divine Crossley, age 98, of Nevada, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at Truman Healthcare Center in Lamar.
Reba was born September 15, 1913, at Milford, Missouri, to Michael E. and Eva (Dighton) Divine. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1931 and earned a teaching degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. Reba taught in rural schools for ten years before beginning her 35 year career charting train movement for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. She was a long-time member of the Railway Business Women's Association. After retiring in 1978, she was active in the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees. Always active in her community, Reba was a member of Community Christian Church on the Plaza in Kansas City and attended First Baptist Church after moving to Nevada. She had been a member of Mt. Hope Chapter 74, Order of Eastern Star since 1933.
On July 13, 1941, Reba married Homer M. Crossley and he preceded her in death May 19, 1960. She was also preceded by two brothers, Glenn and Jay Divine; two sisters, Beulah Niehaus and Ada Crossley; and three nephews, Niel Niehaus, Jack Crossley, and Delbert Crossley.
Survivors include a nephew, Mike & Sondra Divine, Lamar; five nieces and their husbands, Norma Jean & Neil Robertson, Lamar, Sue & Kirk Morris, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kay & Gary Forest, El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Eva Lee Hall, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Patricia & Tom Casady, Hollister, Missouri; two nieces by marriage, Anna Crossley, Kansas City, Missouri and Marilyn & Les Braley, Weslaco, Texas; and a large extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13th, at St. James Cemetery with Tom Casady officiating.
