Robert William Clark, age 76, of Lamar, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at the Barone Alzheimer’s Center in Nevada.
Bob was born August 1, 1934 at Bismarck, North Dakota, to Charles and Ethel (Dunaway) Clark. After graduating from high school, he began his 20 year career in the U.S. Air Force. He served as an air traffic controller on bases in Korea, Louisiana, Kansas, Texas, Labrador, Guam, and South Dakota, and retired in 1973 as a Tech Sergeant. He then worked as a home builder for Midwest Homes in Rapid City for five years, owned and operated a chicken farm in Lamar for six years, and managed campgrounds in Missouri, Kentucky, and Maryland for many years. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and V.F.W. in Independence, Missouri, and Grace Lutheran Church in Lamar. Bob was an enthusiastic Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an accomplished dancer and his greatest pleasure was in making the wonderful memories that he left with his family and friends.
On June 16, 1953 at Bismarck, North Dakota, Robert married Florence L. Falck, and she survives, of the home. Also surviving are two sons, Greg Clark, Lamar, and David & wife Beverly Clark, Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Nancy French & husband Butch Kreuzer, Larned, Kansas, and Brenda Killingsworth, Pleasant Hope, Missouri; four sisters, Jennie Dobson, San Diego, California, Ruth Hull, Clackamas, Oregon, Joan Moore, Sparks, Nevada, and Peggy Nyberg, Gardner, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, William Gruenberg; four sisters, Helen Dobson, Mabel Taix, Hazel Calvin, and Mildred Hass; his brothers, Charles Jr., James, and two infant brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11th at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Galen Friedrichs officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at11:00 a.m. Monday in Missouri Veterans Cemetery south of Springfield, Missouri.
