Rosalie
Crabtree
Rosalie Stanhope Crabtree, age 81, of
Lamar, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Rosalie was born September 23, 1927, at Wathena, Kansas, to
Augustas and Hattie Mae (Moore)
Tribble. While Rosalie was a young girl,
her father died and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Claude C.
Davis. After graduating from high
school, Rosalie married Lloyd T Stanhope and they lived in Kansas City and
Garden City, Missouri for many years.
Rosalie was a taxi driver in Kansas
City and worked as a waitress for more than 20 years
in Garden City. She retired and moved to California
for 15 years, volunteering at food banks and thrift stores. Bingo was her
passion. Rosalie moved to Lamar in 2006 to be near family. She was a member of Garden City Assembly of
God Church.
Survivors include five sons and three
daughters-in-law, Steven & Linda Stanhope, Rio Del, California, Roger &
Karen Stanhope, Nevada, Missouri, Woody Stanhope, James & Beth Stanhope,
all of Lamar, and Kelvin Stanhope, Eureka, California; a daughter and
son-in-law, Mary & Carl Stewart, Eureka, California; an “adopted” son,
Ricky Harvin, Lamar; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten
great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Lloyd Stanhope in 1968; a son, Mark Stanhope; and a brother, Steven Tribble.
A celebration of Rosalie’s life will be
held at a later date under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
