Roy E. “Jr.” Yokley, age 69, of rural Bronaugh,
passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Moore Few Care Center in Nevada.
Roy was
born August 25, 1940, in Lamar,
Missouri, the youngest of the
eleven children of Roy and Loubelle (Leatherman) Yokley. He grew up on the family farm that became his
life-long home, and his love for farming and livestock production remained
strong throughout his life. In addition
to farming, Roy worked as a carpenter and
foreman in bridge construction, first for Pohl Construction in Nevada and then for many years for Snyder Bridge
Construction in Joplin,
retiring in 2003. He also served as
president of the Moundville Public Water District.
On June 23, 1961, Roy married Sarah Davis who preceded him in
death December 10, 1982. Also preceding
him in death were his parents; four brothers, Jake, Charlie, Fred, and Eldon
Yokley; and two sisters, Loretta Danley and Alma Rumph.
On June 3, 1984, Roy married Kathy (Baldus) Coatney, and she
survives of the home. Also surviving are
four sons, Perry & wife Janis Yokley, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Kyle
Coatney, Overland Park, Kansas, Eric & wife Darth Coatney, Yuma, Arizona,
and Douglas & wife Sarah Yokley, Carl Junction, Missouri; two daughters and
their husbands, Theresa & Jim Dalby, Liberal, Missouri, and Krystal &
Mathew Williams, Belton, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jake, Jayden, &
Lauren Dalby, Evan & Samantha Yokley, Kairyn Williams, and Chase Coatney;
four sisters, Ella Yount, Independence, Missouri, Erma Dick, North Kansas City,
Missouri, Peggy Pottorff, Wellsville, Kansas, and Shirley Smith, Blue Springs,
Missouri; and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 2nd, at Hannon Free Will Baptist Church where the
family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in McKill Cemetery
southwest of Bronaugh.
