Shirley Ford

Shirley Ann Ford, age 77, formerly of Sheldon, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 her home near Lamar.      Shirley was born February 12, 1935 at Galena, Kansas, the daughter of Ferrell and Bessie (Shipley) Cure.  On November 16, 1980 at Miami, Oklahoma, she married Jack Ford and he preceded her in death in 1992.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren Cure; two children, Randy Lynn and Gena May; and a grandson, Ethan Mayfield.      Many will remember Shirley as a wonderful cook who worked in various restaurants before owning and operating Sisters Café in Sheldon for many years.  She was an avid reader and liked the challenge of crossword puzzles.  Many of the ceramic projects she created will continue to be enjoyed by family and friends.  The greatest pleasure for Shirley came from the fellowship of her family, especially her grandchildren.      Survivors include three sons and their wives, Robert & Rhonda Enochs and Billy & Linda Enochs all of Lamar, and David & Debbie Enochs of Sheldon; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Norman Mayfield, Lamar; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 5th, at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Tolson Cemetery near Sheldon.      Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
