Tom Friedrichs

Roland Thomas "Tommo" Friedrichs, age 66, of Lamar, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at his home.      Tom was born December 21, 1945 at Cuero, Texas, one of the three sons of Gustave and Reevie (Clark) Friedrichs.  He moved with his family to Milford, Missouri where he lived until moving to Lamar in 2001.  Tom had worked for O'Sullivan Industries for more than 20 years, retiring in 2004 due to hearing loss.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking barbeque on his custom-made smoker.  His most ambitious hobby was scrapping and recycling; Tommy could envision a "second life" for things other people had given up on.  He was a generous and loyal friend and will be missed by his family, many friends and neighbors.       Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Reevie; his step-father, Earl Sumpter; and a brother, John Lee Friedrichs who died in 1996.      Survivors include his brother, Gene Friedrichs of Goliad, Texas; a sister-in-law, Robbie Rae Friedrichs, Goliad; two nephews, John II (Nicole) Friedrichs, Goliad, and Charles (Jessi) Friedrichs, Nashville, Tennessee; a niece, Cynthia (Jeff) Johnson, Neosho, Missouri; five great-nephews and great-nieces, RaLeigh & Madlynn Friedrichs and Nole, Chandler, & Gracelyn Johnson; his long-time friend and companion, Rosemary Rice and her family.      A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18th at Daniel Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Brasher Cemetery near Jerico Springs, Missouri      Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lamar Good Samaritan Shop in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
