Velma Smith

Velma Lucile Engle Anderson Smith was born July 27, 1918.  She grew up in Missouri where she married her first husband that passed away from tuberculosis complications in 1942.  Velma remarried approximately two years later to her childhood sweetheart, Myron who was in the Army and stationed in the Hawaiian Islands as a result of Pearl Harbor.  They came to Barstow in the 1950's and homesteaded in Hinkley, California Velma was married to Myron E. Smith for nearly 64 years before he passed away from emphysema complications.  Velma had five children, Andrea, Jerry, Terry, Deborah, and Patricia. She is proceeded in death by her husband and three of their children.  She has 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Velma's life was lived remarkably close to her family and her Lord Jesus.  She spent the last five years of her life living with her oldest daughter and her husband.  Velma had a stroke in December of 2016 and was bedridden for 15 months.  Velma went to be with her Lord and Savior three months shy of her 100th Birthday on April 27, 2018.  Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Nashville Cemetery.
