Wayne Alan Kirkpatrick, Sr., age 75, of Kenoma, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Wayne was born July 8, 1935, at Eureka, Kansas, to Ira and Grace (Wiggins) Kirkpatrick. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. On August 19, 1955, at Augusta, Kansas, Wayne married Darlene Lamberson and they made their home in Kansas, Wyoming, South Dakota, Washington, and Arizona before moving to Kenoma in 1984. Wayne’s life work and passion was trucking; he owned and operated his own truck until retiring in 2006. He was a member of Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Darlene, of the home; three sons, Wayne, Jr. “Butch” Kirkpatrick, of the home, Kelly & wife Karen Kirkpatrick of Lamar, and Michael Kirkpatrick of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Sam Davis, Alvarado, Texas; a brother Amos Arlo Kirkpatrick, Greeley, Colorado; a sister, LaVeta Ruth Buchanan, Osage, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jack Jay Kirkpatrick in 1987; a brother Gene Kirkpatrick in 1998; and a great-grandchild, John Michael Kirkpatrick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 1st at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Howell Cemetery south of Milford with full graveside military honors by V.F.W. Post 3691.
